March 2012 Meeting Information

The next MVBOC Meeting will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center Adult Education Center, 6801 Hoke Rd., Clayton, Ohio. (This building is on the West side of Hoke Rd.)

This tour is limited to a maximum of 35 people, so make your reservation right away.All reservations are due no later than February 27, so we can place our lunch order.

MVBOC March Meeting – CATERPILLAR LOGISTICS PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTER TOUR 

11:30 – 12:15 Lunch and a brief business meeting at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center Adult Education Center, 6801 Hoke Rd., Clayton, Ohio. (This building is on the West side of Hoke Rd.) 

Box lunches will be provided, and will include a Sandwich – (Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef. Vegetarian “Wrap” available), Macaroni Salad or Potato Salad, a piece of real fruit – usually an apple, banana, orange, a bag of chips, a 3 oz. cookie, and a drink – canned pop.

LUNCH COSTS $10, PAYABLE AT THE DOOR

12:15 Depart MVCTC and go next door to CAT Logistics – Meet at the entry by the flagpole on the north side of the building 

12:30 -2:00 Caterpillar Building Tour 

•  This 1.5 million square foot parts distribution center can process and distribute over 8000 parts for Caterpillar equipment around the world. 
• A special tornado proof exit corridor extends into the building to meet exit travel distance requirements and provide a storm shelter in the event of emergencies. 
• A 40,000 square foot mezzanine created its own exiting challenges. 
• The building has 34 sprinkler risers, protecting 400 foot long, 25 foot high rack storage of up to Class IV combustible commodities. 
• Occupancy sensors control most of the lighting in the facility, cycling lights off in areas not being frequented. 
• See Big Ass fans in action, and learn about their unique, highly sensitive smoke detection interfaces.

OBOA/SWOBOA Joint Conference

The 22nd Joint Conference will be on March 18th, 19th and 20th, 2012 at the Cincinnati Marriott North, 6189 Muhlhauser Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Membership Renewal

The month of January is membership renewal month.  Membership renewal for 2012 is due by January 31, 2012.  Applications can be typed out on line then printed out and mailed in with the proper payment
